BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Dr. Emiliano Gorr-Pozzi is a researcher at the Marine Offshore Renewable Energy Lab (MOREnergy Lab) at Politecnico di Torino, Italy. As a specialist driving the future of the Blue Economy, his work focuses on optimizing policy frameworks and the strategic co-location of Marine Renewable Energy (MRE) systems with consolidated coastal industries, such as aquaculture and desalination. Furthermore, Dr. Gorr-Pozzi explores the innovative symbiosis between MRE and the offshore Oil and Gas sector, demonstrating how ocean renewables can potentiate and decarbonize existing maritime infrastructure.
He holds a degree in Marine Sciences from the University of Vigo, specializing in physical oceanography, and an M.Sc. in Coastal Oceanography from the Autonomous University of Baja California (UABC), Mexico. He earned his Ph.D. at UABC in the Environment and Development graduate program, where he assessed the feasibility of the sustainable use of wave energy as a renewable resource in Baja California.
Throughout his career, Dr. Gorr-Pozzi has been a prominent advocate for marine energy. He actively participated in the Mexican Center for Innovation in Ocean Energy (CEMIE-Oceano) and held leadership roles as vice president of the CEMIE-Ocean Student Committee and chair of the Pan-American Ocean Energy Students Network (POES.Energy). The latter promotes and encourages, in a synergic way, the generation and sustainable use of marine energy in the Pan-American context through a multi- and interdisciplinary open platform created by and for students and young researchers who exchange information, allowing them to contribute to the knowledge, as well as to the use of these energies.
