Mechanical Engineer and Master in Engineering Sciences from the University of Concepción (UdeC), and PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the Technical University of Denmark (DTU). He is currently an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Engineering of the Universidad del Bío-Bío, Chile, where he serves as Director of the Master’s Program in Mechanical Engineering Sciences and Founder and Director of the Group of Renewable Offshore and Wave Energy (GROW-E) since 2016.
His research focuses on the design, modeling, and control of wave energy converters (WECs). He has participated in several international collaborative research projects and led the Lafkenewen Wave Energy Converter project, a WEC fully designed and built by the GROW-E group and successfully deployed off the coast of Chile in 2025.
