Dr. Zhaoqing Yang is a Chief Scientist for coastal modeling at PNNL’s Marine and Coastal Research Laboratory and a Distinguished Faculty Fellow in Civil & Environmental Engineering at the University of Washington. His research employs advanced numerical modeling to study marine renewable energy (wave, tidal stream, ocean current and OTEC), coastal hydrodynamics, storm surge and flooding, microplastic transport, carbon cycling, and scalable macroalgae systems. Dr. Yang is the editor of the book “Marine Renewable Energy Resource Characterization and Physical Effects” and serves on the editorial boards for multiple peer-reviewed journals. He earned his Ph.D. in Physical Oceanography from the College of William and Mary.
